Investing in Chinese Enterprises - Middle East Capital Roadshow and

Participating in the 13th AIM Congress Series of Activities

Background

In recent years, Middle Eastern investment in Chinese enterprises has grown, diversifying into sectors such as petrochemicals, new energy, biomedicine, internet, and automotive. Media reports indicate that four major Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds—the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and the Qatar Investment Authority—have invested in 62 A-share listed companies. The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority alone has stakes in 25 of these companies with a combined market value of approximately 9.567 billion yuan. Major Chinese companies like Rongsheng Petrochemical, Wanda Commercial Management, and NIO have also secured substantial investments from Middle Eastern sources like Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The 13th AIM Congress, held from May 7 to 9, 2024, has been recognized as one of the top three important national events by the UAE Cabinet and is a key annual event for the global investment community. Initiated by the AIM Foundation under the authority of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and co-hosted by the UAE Ministry of National Industry and Advanced Technology and the Ministry of Economy of Abu Dhabi, it has become a prominent international investment platform in the Middle East since its inception in 2011, drawing participation from 175 countries, including numerous heads of state, ministers, investors, entrepreneurs, and startups.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia are pivotal in the Middle East, with strategic locations, abundant resources, and thriving economies; the UAE is notably open. Abu Dhabi and Riyadh host the largest sovereign wealth funds, while Dubai has become a hub for the world's largest hedge funds and a burgeoning center for family offices.

To capitalize on this, we will invite Chinese entrepreneurs for a series of roadshows in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh from May 5 to May 13, 2024, targeting local governments, sovereign funds, and family offices. In conjunction, an “Investing in Chinese Enterprises - Middle East Capital Roadshow” conference will be held in Dubai, along with participation in the 13th AIM Congress in Abu Dhabi.
